چکیده

We study the Chern-Simons number diffusion rate in the (1+1)-dimensional lattice Abelian Higgs model at temperatures much higher than, as well as comparable to, the sphaleron energy. It is found that in the high-temperature limit the rate is likely to grow as power 2/3 of the temperature. In the intermediate-temperature regime, our numerical simulations show that very weak temperature dependence of the rate, found in previous work, persists at smaller lattice spac-ings. We discuss possibilities of relating the observed behavior of the rate to static finite-temperature properties of the model.

High Temperature Behavior of the Chern-Simons Diffusion Rate in the 1+1 D Abelian Higgs Model

We give arguments that in the 1+1 dimensional abelian Higgs model the classical approximation can be good for the leading high temperature behavior of real time processes. The Chern-Simons diffusion rate (‘sphaleron rate’) is studied numerically in this approximation. New results at high temperature show a T 2/3 behavior of the rate at sufficiently small lattice spacing. email: [email protected]...

Solitons in 2+1 Dimensional Non-Commutative Maxwell Chern-Simons Higgs Theories

We find soliton solutions in the 2+1 dimensional non-commutative Maxwell Chern-Simons Higgs theories. In the limit of the Chern-Simons coefficient going to zero, these solutions go over to the previously found solutions in the non-commutative Maxwell Higgs theories. The new solutions may have relevance in the theory of the fractional quantum Hall effect and possibly in string vacua correspondin...

Asymmetric Chern-Simons number diffusion from CP-violation

We study Chern-Simons number diffusion in a SU(2)-Higgs model with CP-odd dimensioneight operators. We find that the thermal average of the magnitude of the velocity of the Chern-Simons number depends on the direction of the velocity. This implies that the distribution function of the Chern-Simons number will develop an asymmetry. It is argued that this asymmetry manifests itself through a line...

Chern-Simons number asymmetry from CP violation at electroweak tachyonic preheating

We consider the creation of non-zero Chern-Simons number in a model of the early Universe, where the Higgs field experiences a fast quench at the end of inflation and subsequently rolls down its potential barrier. Neglecting the expansion, we perform numerical lattice simulations in the Abelian Higgs model in 1+1 dimensions with an added phenomenological C and P violating term during this stage...

Large-N Analysis of Three Dimensional Nonlinear Sigma Models

Non-perturbative renormalization group approach suggests that a large class of nonlinear sigma models are renormalizable in three dimensional space-time, while they are nonrenormalizable in perturbation theory. N = 2 supersymmetric nonlinear sigma models whose target spaces are Einstein-Kähler manifolds with positive scalar curvature belongs to this class. hermitian symmetric spaces, being homo...
